Testing, Adjusting and Balancing (TAB)
Precision air-side and hydronic testing, proportional balancing, and performance verification to ensure HVAC installations deliver specified airflow, temperature differentials, and fluid flow rates.

Testing, Adjusting and Balancing (TAB)
Technical Scope of Work
Precision air-side and hydronic testing, proportional balancing, and performance verification to ensure HVAC installations deliver specified airflow, temperature differentials, and fluid flow rates.
Standard TAB Methodology
Audit approved mechanical schedules, duct schematics, and test point accessibility.
Measure and record initial total system airflow, fan static pressures, and pump head.
Balance branch dampers, fan sheaves, VAV boxes, and hydronic balancing valves to design tolerances.
Conduct joint witness testing with the supervising consultant and issue stamped documentation.
Typical Equipment Handled
Air Handling Units (AHUs), Fan Coil Units (FCUs), Packaged Rooftop Units, and VAV terminal units.
Primary and secondary chilled water loops, circuit balancing valves, and heat exchangers.
Exhaust fans, smoke management fans, stairwell pressurization systems, and fresh air louvers.
Electrical substation switchgear halls, battery rooms, data centers, and laboratory spaces.
Standards & Acceptance Criteria
Testing and balancing tolerances follow approved project specifications and recognized industry standards (including SMACNA HVAC Systems TAB and ASHRAE Standard 111). All readings are recorded using laboratory-calibrated test instruments.
